I was just working on my website yet again. I never think it is good enough. I’m staring at the screen and I started asking myself questions. “Why am I doing this?” “What is my main objective for this site?”
Then it hit me like a ton of bricks. Like a freight train coming at full speed. “I’m doing this to get booked for speaking engagements!” But, it will only work if people come to the site. “What if I reached out to people I wanted to work with directly?”, I thought. What a novel idea lol.
I have heard it said and read it thousands of times. Hell, I have even wrote it hundreds of times. It’s the phrase “Take Action”. Yes, I know, I know. I got caught up again in trying to reinvent the wheel. I immediately logged out of my site. I looked up the exact people and organizations at my local university that my message is perfect for. I then found the people in charge of those programs and sent them a personal email. I sent ten emails including a link to my website.
Within an hour I had received two replies from people that were interested in working together. I could have took action continuing to work on my website for that hour. Where would I be? Still hoping people found the site. The lesson here is take action on what gets results.
Being busy and working hard on the wrong things only leads to frustration. You know what's really funny? I checked the analytics for my site. Want to know how many of those email recipients clicked the link to my website? This is hilarious, zero! That's right, absolutely no one even visited anyway.
Be sure to focus on what gets results. Do not get caught up staying busy and working hard on things that aren't getting the job done.
If you want a raise or promotion where you work just doing a great job is not enough. You already get paid for that. You must let the boss know what you want and ask specific questions on what is expected of you to meet your objective.
Getting to where you want to be requires work. You must take action! But beware, take the action that gets results. Connect with people and build relationships. Learn to communicate!

We all have areas of our life that could stand a little improvement. We
tend to try little things here and there to make things better.
What generally ends up happening is. We don't follow through, and we
end up doing the same things over and over.
We become so comfortable doing these things. Even if it is not helping
us at all. If you really want real and Lasting change.
Here is a simple checklist to get you started on the path to success.
For very real and Lasting change in our lives. We must truly believe
without a shadow of a doubt, and through no uncertain terms.
That we can and will change. Whatever it is that is keeping us from
success. Keeping a positive mental attitude through change is imperative to
your self belief.
believing in yourself is up to you and you alone. Think back to all of
the struggles and challenges you have had in your life up to now.
No matter what they were. You have overcome every single one of them.
Now think back on all the great accomplishments you have achieved.
Now take that feeling that you have right now and build on it. Believe!
My friend and fellow Toastmaster. Rose Schumacher, gave an amazing
presentation on this subject. She used the brilliant analogy of ham and
She emphasized, while the chicken was involved. The pig was fully
committed. While being involved is something very commendable.
There is a very clear, and distinct difference in being absolutely
committed. Real and Lasting change only happens when you put your heart and
soul into i. There has to be passion. A burning desire that nothing will
Start With Only One Thing
Old habits are hard to break
Especially if there are many. Putting all of your intense focus on only one
thing at a time will greatly enhance your chances of success.
Trying to multi-task with so many things pulling us in all different
directions is not the route we need to take. Focusing on one small task at
a time will create momentum. Building on that momentum, we can accomplish
these small goals. Building confidence, and bringing us ever closer to our
Have you ever been on a roll where everything seems to be going right? Everything clicks? You're working hard, you're motivated, and boom! Something happened and it stopped. Your momentum comes to a halt. It happens. Getting started again is sometimes frustrating. It takes time but there's a way to snap out of that.
When I coach people. I use something called the momentum framework. It all starts with tiny habits. Very simple habits that we create. That overtime, become a part of us. We can do them without even thinking about it. By creating these small habits we build consistency, and consistency builds momentum much like a locomotive starts out very slow. It turns its Wheels very slowly and keeps going. As it moves forward, it gains speed. Once at full speed, a train has momentum and hardly anything in its path can break that momentum.
When we create small habits we can build momentum just like the locomotive. When things happen and get in our path, they may slow our momentum slightly but they won't stop us. Albert Einstein learned that an object in motion tends to stay in motion and an object at rest tends to stay at rest. When we are stuck like an object at rest. We need an outside force to move. A little bit of action is when we start implementing tiny habits. We take small actions. These small actions get things moving and once we get moving we can stay moving.
Objects in motion tend to stay in motion. Persistent action keeps our momentum going and that momentum creates lasting change and that's what we're really after, lasting change. We already have tiny habits that we do everyday. We don't even recognize them because they have become habit.
If you're not where you want to be right now. If you want something different. If you want to accelerate your success. Take a look today and start focusing on your current habits. When we consciously make an effort to find what habits are working and ones that are not, we can recognize where we need to make improvements. By creating new empowering habits we will begin to change. Remember, habits take time to form. It may take a little while. Some may start working faster than others but when we make these small changes they begin to add up and create lasting change to your success.
In today's hectic world everything seems fast paced. It always seems like we can never find the time to make everything work. It is extremely important that we make time or take the time to focus on ourselves and especially our tiny habits. A few simple strategies and techniques may just do the trick. You can use reminders on your cell phone. Almost everyone has a cell phone.
These technological advances can work to your advantage. Use reminders on your phone to schedule time for yourself to work on your tiny habits. Just 10 to 15 minutes per day will pay a huge dividends in the long run. Remember that an object at rest tends to stay at rest so it is extremely important that you take small actions hold yourself accountable.
Another strategy is to tell someone your goals. Having someone else to hold you accountable and keep you on track will accelerate your success. I work with people just like you everyday helping to identify small habits that are holding us back and creating new habits that will create lasting change and accelerate their success. I was working on a project yesterday staring at a blank screen. I wanted to add a photo to a webpage at the top. I designed a nice logo and placed it. It looked a little off to me. I played with it for fifteen minutes and then finally deleted the whole thing.
There I was again. Staring at a blank screen. The content was ready to be copied and pasted. The email auto responder was set up and only needed a link to the page. Even a video had been shot and edited. But there I was. Still staring at a blank page. The pursuit of perfection is a noble cause. I mean, who doesn't want to be perfect?
Isn't that what we strive for? The reality is we all fall short, and that's OK! Reach for the moon. If you don't make it, at least you could catch a few stars. Are you staring at a blank screen because you want things to be perfect? You may be waiting for a very long time.
So here's my best advice. From my experience I find putting something, anything in to action is incredibly powerful. Is it absolutely perfect? Not by any means. But it is a start. Once you have something in action, you can start measuring the results and make small changes to get the desired outcome.
Will it ever be perfect? Most likely not, but that's OK. When a now worldwide package delivery company first started. They sent twenty packages to themselves. Less than half of those packages actually arrived.
They had an idea, a plan, and they took action. FedEx now competes on the world stage of package deliveries. Now it's your turn. Start filling your blank page right now with something, anything! It may never be perfect, but that's OK! CW
The monotonous chores of everyday life seems to blur together and before you know it, you're looking at a person you don’t recognize in the mirror. Asking yourself, where did the time go? We'll all be there one day. Did we live an epic life? Reach for the Stars? Take calculated risks and Achieve The Impossible? Or did we join the mainstream and settle for the status quo?
An epic life is most assuredly not about the destination. It is all about the journey. So what is your passion? What are your dreams. What are your goals? What actions are you taking right now towards them. Are you telling yourself that you don't have enough time to follow your dreams? If not now, today, then when.
Someday is not a day of the week. Someday may never come. There is no time like the present! Our epic Life Begins today! There may be many paths to it but, I want to share with you today, the strategy that has helped me the most. Somebody, somewhere, has already arrived at where you want to go or who you want to be.
They could also be on the same Journey just a few steps ahead of you. The trial-and-error process can take months, years, even a lifetime. Connecting with a mentor or coach can accelerate the process exponentially. Saving precious time, money, and frustration. If the fastest route between point A and point B is a straight line. Does it make sense to use trial and error? Or would it benefit you to look for someone who has been there before you and created a map?
Getting lost on your journey takes up your time and is extremely frustrating when someone already has a map laid out for you. It just makes perfect sense! The biggest, most important investment you can make is in yourself. There is no magic pill. The escalator to success is broken. There is however a mentor or coach ready right now to invest in you, If you are ready to invest in yourself. The time will pass anyway.
A coach is simply someone that could be a couple steps ahead of you. Reaching back to take your hand and help pull you forward and guide you in the direction you want to go. Your epic Life Starts Today! Reach out and connect with a mentor or coach. I help people just like you get in the right frame of mind and develop a mindset to achieve real change!
If I am not the right fit. I can point you in the right direction to a coach that is. I provide one-on-one coaching through weekly phone calls and email support. I'm also excited to offer coaching on a mobile on demand platform called Coach Chat. An affordable messaging platform available on any device. Are you curious to know why some people seem to be more successful than others? Is it because they're smarter or better looking? Do they just work harder than everyone else? I thought the same questions.
That is until I came across a famous quote by Jim Rohn. He said “you are the average of the 5 people you spend the most time with.” When I first read that quote, I Shrugged It off but. Later I got to thinking about it and the more I thought about it.
I looked at the people I was hanging around with. I began to believe it more sincerely, so I took some action and stopped hanging around with several people. I actually went out and met other people that were doing what I wanted to do.
People that seemed successful to me, and you know what happened? I started to see more success in my life! it's amazing how the statement “you are the average of the 5 people you spend the most time with” really is.
Sit down and really think about who the five people are that you spend the most time with. Analyze what they mean to you. Are they supporting you. Are they going in the direction that you want to go? Or are they always cynical and holding you back? That's really the biggest question.
Now don't get me wrong! I'm not saying go out and cut people completely out of your life. You may have been friends for a long time, but the quote States the people you spend the most time with. Really concentrate and focus on those people.
Real change only happens when you have made a conscious decision to do things differently then you have been doing them. I know change can be quite scary. The alternative is to just keep doing the same thing and keep getting the same results.
It's hard to soar with the Eagles when you were down here with all these turkeys! I'm not sure who to give credit to for that quote but I sure do like it and it's a very true statement. Are you hanging around with turkeys but want to fly with the Eagles?
There's going to have to be a change. The slightest mindset shift can make all the difference in the world.
I's time to get on that list. Take a close look at the 5 people you spend the most time with. Do they share your vision? Do they have the same goals and aspirations? If not, it's time to find some people that do.

“I've been spinning my wheels and getting nowhere fast!” Have you ever heard that expression? It's a car reference.
Many people spin their wheels from time to time. I watch Nascar racing and the majority of the tracks are oval tracks. Cars go fast and turn left. Every driver wants to go as fast as they can.
Sometimes a car is way out front and the person behind them is trying to catch them. they're trying as hard as they can, but the harder they try it seems like they're spinning their wheels and not making up any ground.
We can use this analogy to our benefit. Much like NASCAR drivers. If we slow down just a little bit and stop making very small mistakes. We can actually speed up.
I've seen this happen in races. Hitting your marks and making fewer mistakes will actually help you go faster. Going fast into a turn causes the tires to slide and lose traction.
Just like trying to do too many things at once in our lives can have the same effect. Losing traction takes us further from our goal causing more time and effort. We can make up good time when we slow down and make educated moves we can actually go faster.
Remember The Tortoise and the Hare. The rabbit was of course faster than the turtle. He'd run along getting way out front in the race and take breaks. The turtle, slow and steady won the race. We can take a great lesson from the turtle. You don't always have to be the fastest.
Of course everyone makes a few mistakes along the way but when we slow down and take practical steps toward our goal. We can keep traction. We can keep the wheels on the road and makes slow steady gains.
An example of this principal and practice is the carpenters rule of thumb. “Measure twice, cut once.” This is a very practical guideline. Boards are expensive. Labor is expensive.
When we measure once and make a cut we could only be a fraction of an inch off. If the board doesn't fit, we must cut another board and throw away the old one costing time and finances. Here's a great strategy.
Take the time to prioritize your tasks. Write them down in the order of priority. Start at the top and work to complete that task. When you are finished, cross it off and start on the next one. You actually can slow down to speed up. For more strategies like this one visit coachwallace.com

I used to think if I tried my best and worked hard, things would just work out OK. I tried to keep a positive outlook on everything.
Days turned into months and I was getting the same results as always. My relentless pursuit of knowledge on how to turn my life around was soon to change.
I came across a book called Unlimited Power by Tony Robbins. I devoured it in a couple of days.
A few pages of one chapter however, really caught my attention. The power of beliefs and our belief system.
It focused on how we interpret things that happen to us. The bad news, we can not change the past. The good news, we can definitely change what things mean to us.
From the time we are born we relate feelings, either positive or negative to events or circumstances that happen to us.
Over time our responses to conditions form predictable patterns. When we make a conscious effort to take another look at these patterns, we can decide if they are still what we believe or not.
This is where we can change our beliefs to fit our "present" and start making an epic "future"
